How to improve the cutting speed for the wire EDM machine?



To improve the cutting speed of the wire EDM, we may consider the following factors:


1. The distance between the upper/down wire nozzles and the workpiece is bigger than0.1mm. If the distance is too large, the coolant condition will be worse that may lead to the bad discharging and lower cutting speed. So try to keep it less than0.1mm.


2. The wrong TEC file. Try to input the suitable processing parameters in order to get the correct TEC file.


3. Unsuitable EDM parameters. If you lower P, I value too much, the cutting speed will be lower. So try to adjust them according to your job height.


4. Coolant condition is not good. The standard flushing pressure can not be reached or the water nozzle is not near to the job. We have to understand the reasons and accept the lower speed.


5. Deformation leading to the unstable discharging, especially in the finish cutting. Please try to control the material deformation in order to improve the finishing cutting speed.


6. ACO function is selected. This function can reduce the cutting efficiency too much --- Under the stable cutting condition, we may cancel this function to improve the cutting speed.


7.   Higher accuracy parameter. For the job with many corners, we can get a higher accuracy by applying the higher accuracy parameter. However, it will reduce the cutting speed. During the first time cutting, the STR set value is 55. We may set it with 33 or 0 to improve the cutting speed.


8. Finishing cutting is lower. Try to reduce the offset value by 0.01-0.02mmduring the first time cutting.


9. Coolant water near the power feed contacts (esp. the down one), make sure the coolant is normal.


10. The first time cutting is lower than before. Try to clean the wire guide.
